During Spring of 2010, I co-produced a day-long arts festival dubbed, “Tattoos, Piercings and Piñatas”, celebrating emerging Napa Valley Latino artists and was located at Flying Colors Tattoo Salon and surrounding outdoor areas. The event was in honor of a well known local Latino artist, Reuben Godinez who passed away the year previous. The festival included an arts exhibition, street art painting, fashion show, poetry readings, digital/video projection art, craft vendors, and  many local band performances. Latino community  leaders were invited to speak in support of the youth arts community; we were blessed to have Dan Monez (former police chief), Azalea and Oscar Aguilar (ACNV board member and artist), and Arty Reyes (host of the local Arty Party TV show). We were also honored to have members of Reuben Godinez’s family in attendance. The community gathering was a hit with over 300 attendees, and was featured on the front page of the local paper (see clips below).

The marketing roles I participated in included designing the posters and handbills, social media marketing, and shooting photography of the event (view a sample collection below). Other roles include directing volunteers, setting up the arts gallery and creating a memorial gallery for Reuben.

Snippet from the local paper (full clips below): “An alternative art movement that’s centered on youth culture surfaced in Napa on Sunday afternoon to honor one of its own. Tattoos, Piercings and Spinning Piñatas placed the spotlight on up-and-coming latino artists in the Valley and paid tribute to the life and work of Reuben Godinez, a local artist and teacher who passed away in November. About 250 people gathered at flying Colors Tattoo Salon and Lilia’s Beauty Salon on California Boulevard to enjoy the day-long art and music festival. Alternative art embraces various art forms and infuses them with a rock ‘n’ roll attitude. Artists express themselves in forms ranging from tattoos, fashion and hair design to body piercings, music, street art, murals and digital arts.”
