When I joined nonprofit, Arts Council Napa Valley as a staff member from my web development contractor position, I had the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects. Creating a new visual identity for the organization was one of them. At that time, ACNV was under new leadership and the organization needed a visual change to mark a different era in its history.
For branding consistency, I drafted a ten-page style guide, that included components from print and website––to e-blast, email signatures and social media. The goals of the new contemporary style was to convey approachability while also alluding to leadership, strength, stability, vitality and movement . The new identity continued the font from the previous logo for visual consistency. I chose a square to contain the logo and blue, which both generally symbolize stability.
A part of my job while with ACNV, was having the opportunity to shoot photography of the arts programs in action. The photos below were used for marketing the Napa ARTwalk (more photos), ART ON F1RST (more photos), Arts Education and Poetry Out Loud programs.
