Napa Valley ARTS 2010, Branding & Marketing

Napa Valley ARTS 2010

Napa Valley ARTS 2010 was the first annual countywide arts festival in Napa Valley that took place during Fall, promoting arts events throughout the Valley. Arts Council Napa Valley (ACNV) led the coordination of the festival, as well as branding, while Legendary Napa Valley directed media promotions through tourism channels.

Since it was a new program, everything had to be developed from ground up. Designing the logo and cover design for the first annual festival was exciting and a new and fun challenge. The ACNV team decided that the cover needed to be symbolic as opposed to literal, as the organization did not want to single out any of the events and/or arts disciplines. Our branding goal was to reflect the over-reaching concept of highlighting the arts in Napa Valley. I discovered the person blowing on a dandelion as it was a perfect symbol to reflect the “Cultivating Creativity” tag line for the festival. Both the square shape and the color purple represent strength and stability, while the earthy yellows, oranges and browns reflect the rich colors of Autumn.  The logo design carried on the same square shape as the ACNV logo for design consistency, and the font represents a contemporary and simplistic style. After the branding imagery and logo design were hammered out, it was on to the production of posters, content development, website design and development, as well as the e-blast design. Below are samples of the marketing media that I designed.
