I had no place to put this cute beauty among all my other series of watercolor paintings, so it gets a page of its own. The year that I painted this morning glory (which is one of my favorite flowers), was a very challenging year that tested who I am and my life’s purpose. However, despite the difficult year, what was expressed on watercolor paper, was this morning glory. I could have easily created art that was bloody, violent, gory, gut-spilling, angry and/or depressing… but it’s just not in me to do so. And plus, there’s light, silver-linings and beauty during the darkest of times. I donated this painting to an Arts Council Napa Valley Artists’ Open Studios auction at a reception at St. Supéry Vineyards & Winery.
