Websites are hand-coded for fast download, tested in a minimum of 10 browsers & on Mac & PC platforms. Included in the Web design fee is coding for search engine ranking and custom favicon.
Websites are validated utilizing W3C’s online service, and CSE Validator for zero coding errors.
Websites are coded in XHTML and CSS (cascading style sheets) - recommended for highest coding standards. Currently recoding old sites in my portfolio.
Starting this year, special attention will be paid to “accessible websites” for those with disabilities and alternative media types.
META tags and content written for high search engine ranking. I recommend embedding of Flash animation as opposed to websites designed in Flash for better search engine ranking.
Sitemaps are submitted to Google for spidering after launch of site.
focus
Emphasis is placed on prototyping design, or user interface design of the home page. The home page is the most important page; it’s a billboard and you have 3 seconds to grab a visitor’s attention. The design of the home page is a balance between eye-catching visuals and content that is easy for visitor to digest. A home page requires that it tell the visitor exactly what they will gain by purchasing their services and/or products at a quick glance. It’s all about marketing and I feel that I have a good sense in how to display content albeit copy-to-imagery to gain people’s attention. I also believe that you should never make a visitor have to think about what they should do when visiting a website; the navigation is obvious and the visitor can easily get the information they need to proceed.
I also believe that in this impersonal digital age, that small businesses should place emphasis on a personal connection to world out there; that well-written content and even imagery of the proprietor and/or team offers a friendly face for potential customers to connect with. I feel that it’s important that a company should not be afraid of being “who they are”. You can’t please everyone and as a company, and I believe your business will thrive even more by attracting customers that can relate to you.
what I do & don’t do
If you are wanting a “quickie” website created using templates, need your large site maintained, or want me to do programming in PHP — I’m not the designer for you. However, if you want custom prototyping design, website hand-coded in valid XHTML and tableless CSS, and/or templates for your current programming team, I’m for you!
